New Bedford Yacht Club in MA hosted its annual New Bedford Regatta on Buzzards Bay. The two days of racing offered sailors great conditions on the bay that is famous for its strong seabreezes that materialize most afternoons. The Little Traverse Yacht Club hosted its iconic Ugotta Regatta in Harbor Springs, MI on July 26-28. This year’s event was featured as the J/111 Great Lakes Championship for 13 boats. This year’s 289.0nm Chicago Mackinac Race saw the fleet start in light to medium southeasterly winds and bright sunshine. By 2:00 pm, all boats were on their way north up to Mackinac Island. The seven-boat ORC C Division saw Bruce Chan’s J/111 65 RED ROSES II toss a third place to count just four firsts and two seconds for 8 points net to win with ease. The 170th NYYC Annual Regatta took place over the June 14th to 16th weekend on the waters of Narragansett Bay and Rhode Island Sound. The regatta format features the popular Round Island Race on Friday (a 21.0nm circumnavigation of Conanicut Island) and then two days of either round-the-buoys racing or PHRF navigational racing.
