Thanks to Blane Shea for this report: Incredible conditions set the tone for fierce competition at the 2023 Great Lakes Championship held in Harbor Springs, Michigan during the UGotta Regatta. The J/111 Class had a total of 12 boats racing all three days. The group was fortunate to have Stu Johnstone as the host of the J/Boats party and participating in the regatta sailing with Terrier. Thank you to J/Boats! The Great Lakes Championship was a close race for the top five boats. Day One was windward/leewards in 8-12 knots of perfect conditions. Day Two had much lighter breeze for the medium distance 25-mile race with several lead changes. Finally, 15-19 knots of breeze on the third day for a shockingly close finish! Scott Sellers on No Surprise took first, Blane Shea of Striking Back took second and George Kriese of Wildcat took third. Thank you Little Traverse Yacht Club!
