After 93 races across the various classes, the 40th Warsash Spring Series and Championship came to an end. The subsequent prize-giving saw 31 trophies distributed to the winners by Warsash Sailing Club, along with sailing jackets and bags presented by event partners Helly Hansen. Most of the prizes were the Warsash glass yachts regularly presented for the event. At a busy clubhouse, Warsash SC Commodore Nigel Rennie thanked everyone concerned for all their efforts, including the 50-strong volunteer race teams led by PRO Peter Knight and Black Group CRO Peter Bateson, the committee boat owners, club support staff and most of all the competitors themselves for taking part. The guns were blazing in the Spring Championship for the IRC 1 Division of 19 boats. In the end, the J/111 fleet had the upper hand. It was a clean sweep of the top five by the J/111s, with Paul Griffiths’ JAGERBOMB winning. Second was Chris Jones & Louise Makin’s JOURNEYMAKER II, third went to Cornel Riklin’s JITTERBUG, fourth to Dirk Van Beek’s SABRIEL, and fifth was Julie Fawcett’s JOLENE.
